Grammar: Present tenses

Next lesson, we'll revise the present tenses: present simple and present continuous. At this point, it's very important to be sure about the form of the present simple and continuous. These videos will help you refresh your memory: Form of present simple: (I usually wear a T-shirt and a pair of jeans) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L9AWrJnhsRI Form and use of present continuous:  am/is/are + verb-ing (Today I'm wearing a dress) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oBbJNjjSYBo&t=8s Remember that we use the present simple to talk about routines , facts or things that are always true and with  stative verbs , such as love, like, understand, believe, etc. and we use the present continuous to talk about actions that are happening now , at this moment, or future plans : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f3DH774OxeQ This box with time expressions may be useful:

My favourite word in English

The European Day of Languages is an annual celebration day to encourage language learning across Europe. At the initiative of the Council of Europe, it has been celebrated every year, on 26 September, since the European Year of Languages in 2001.  To celebrate it, we'll design some posters to hang on our classroom's wall: Choose your favourite word in English. Choose a picture from the Internet, from a magazine, take a photo, make a drawing, a collage, etc., related with the word. Look up this information in a dictionary: type of word ( is it a noun, a verb, an adjective, an adverb? ), syllable division, phonetic transcription and definition. Write your own definition. Redefine the word using your own words. Be creative! Here you are an example. My favourite word in English is CURIOSITY because, in my opinion, it's the basis of learning, without curiosity there's no learning, curiosity is the starting point for learning.

A Christmas Carol

This is the book we're going to read this term: A Christmas Carol. "A  specially dramatised version of one of Dickens' most popular stories. It is Christmas Eve in London, and the bad-tempered miser, Ebenezer Scrooge, is about to live through a frightening experience - the visits of four ghosts: his former partner, Marley, and the Ghosts of Christmas Past, Present and Future. Will Scrooge learn his lesson and become a more generous person? ." https://www.burlingtonbooks.com/Spain/Page.aspx?PageID=1979 ISBN: 978-9963-51-011-5 And here there's a link where you can find all the audios for the book, so that you can practise your listening skills and pronunciation at home, as well as other activities related to the book. Enjoy it! https://www.burlingtonbooks.com/Spain/Page.aspx?PageID=1924&zoneIndex=3&subMenuIndex=6

World maps

This week in class we've been talking about countries and maps and we've been thinking critically about the fact that maps don't show the world in an accurate way, that the perfect flat map doesn't exist, that we always have to compromise something and how our vision of the world can change depending on the map we're looking at (or what's the same, the world can change depending on the point of view you're looking from). If you want to watch the video again (with or without subtitles), you can find it here: http://www.oxfamblogs.org/education/mapping_our_world/mapping_our_world/06-ChatShow/ChatShow.htm
